What is Evening Primrose Oil?

Evening primrose oil (EPO) is derived from the seeds of evening primrose plant. It contains a special fatty acid called gamma linolenic acid (GLA). GLA is one of the omega 6 fatty acids and is required by the body to produce substances known as prostaglandins which are important for our health.
Prostaglandins affect the immune system, circulation and menstrual cycles. Both lifestyle and psychological factors (such as stress, over consumption of alcohol, unhealthy diets, viruses, etc) can hinder the body's production of GLA.

Nutritional Information per capsule:
Evening Primrose Oil 1000mg
Providing: Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) 90mg

Vitamin E 15mg (150% RDA)

Ingredients:
Evening Primrose Oil, Capsule Shell (Gelling Agent: Gelatine, Humectant: Glycerine), dl-alpha-tocopherol.

1 -3 capsules daily, preferably with a meal.
Do not exceed recommended amount unless directed by a physician.

Am very pleased with the pricing and packaging format of this product. I wanted to try a high strength Evening Primrose Oil to see if it will help with my severe PMS. I am yet to see if it is helping, but excellent packaging means that I don't have yet another enormous round bottle of capsules to store. I love it! (BTW, if you are epileptic or have schizophrenia please ask your doctor before taking Evening Primrose Oil, as GLA can be quite stimulating for our neurochemistry and therefore not beneficial (and may be harmful) if you have these medical conditions). MANY THANKS HEALTHSPARK - I will be recommending you to my frinds and family :-) (Posted on 19/12/2011)
