Glucosamine is needed by the body to manufacture
specialised molecules called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which are
important for the development of cartilage, bone, tendons, ligaments,
nails, hair and skin. It is used to help relieve joint pain and protect
against long-term degeneration of the joints by helping to stimulate the
growth of cartilage (the gel-like material that cushions joints).
Chondroitin Sulphate is a natural compound found in
joints, although in degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis its
presence diminishes as cartilage erodes. It is thought to block the
enzymes that can destroy cartilage tissue as well as promote
water-retention in the cartilage found in joints, thereby making it more
elastic. Research has shown that supplementing your diet with

possibly slow the progression of osteoarthritis.
Vitamin C The health benefits of Vitamin C are manifold
and although it is most commonly known as an immunity booster and
powerful antioxidant, it is also crucial for the formation of collagen
(the structural protein that holds joints together) and thus plays a key
role in keeping ligaments and tendons strong and healthy. With Vitamin C
being a water soluble nutrient the Chondroitin absorbs it, therefore
placing it within the joints where it is needed most.
