What is Maqui Berry?
Maqui berries (pronounced "mah-key") are berries that grow on the "maqui tree", also known as Aristotelia chilensis, that is part of the Elaeocarpaceae family that grows in Chile and Argentina. The maqui berry fruit, which is harvested as food, is 4–6 mm in diameter. It contains 4-8 angular seeds.
Maqui Berry is the new craze in superfruits only just recently making its mark on the nutritional supplement seen.
The Maqui berry comes from a region in Patagonia that is considered one of the most fertile lands on earth. The richness of the soil is the key to its unique nutritional properties.
The antioxidants found in the maqui berry are about 3 times more potent than those in acai berries, which are 8 times more potent than blueberries.
What Does Maqui Berry Do?
The most significant health benefits have been attributed to phenolic compounds and vitamin C, which may help to maintain and healthy heart and immune system.
Maqui has strong antioxidant activity, particularly anthocyanins, which may help to maintain a healthy body and mind. Research has found that the endemic Chilean berry Aristotelia chilensis has higher phenol content and scores better for total radical-trapping potential and total antioxidant reactivity in vitro antioxidant capacity tests, when compared to different commercial berries. Maqui berries have a higher ORAC value (750-920 u mole TE/gram) than other berries or fruit. Its nearest competitor is the Acai berry.

Directions for Use
